Intoxalock car device
I was having major problems with my car device reading false bac's and going into lockout. "customer service" was hard to reach, no return calls.
when I did contact them, about 11:30 at night, they were rude and uncaring. I wrote a review here. next morning brandis called me. she was very nice and informative.
she helped me understand my device and possible problems. the lock out fees of $150.00 were erased.
I was starting to think I'd made a big mistake using intoxalock, but now they are back on even ground. I'd like to thank brandis for all the help she gave me.

Intoxalock - Ignition Interlock Device Review from Battle Ground, Washington
I though intoxalock was going to be the best company to go through for my ignition interlock. The cost and fees have become quite an issue, and I dont think Im willing to refer friends to intoxalock any more.
Especially after this closing fee of $95? I dont even have the device in my posession anymore!
I have to pay $95 for someone to make a few mouse clicks and close my account? Beware.
Horrible Experience
I had eaten a Cliff bar before starting my car. My car started just fine; then 5 minutes later I blew into it again, and it registered .030.
Of course my car started going haywire. I instantly did a retest that passed. However, that one instance caused my device to go into a "Lockout" state that would occur approximately five days later. Upon reaching customer service, they told me it would cost 65.00 for a replacement plus 45.00 to ship it over-nite!!
This was one week ago. This morning I had not eaten or drank ANYTHING. I blow into the device, car starts, and off I go. 3 minutes later, I blow into it again, and the thing goes haywire once again!
Mind you I had not eaten or drank anything!! All I did was turn my heater on to defrost my windshield. so, NOW the device will lock out again in approximately five days. Intoxalock is just right up the road from my job.
I take the other device in as opposed to mailing it, but the rude receptionist tells me I have to mail it in??? The I asked to speak to a customer service rep in which she tells me I have to call in! I said that's the problem, whenever I do call, I cant reach anyone and get put on hold forever. I leave a number for them to call me back on and nobody calls me back!
I was not treated like a customer, but another number. I felt like I was at the Iowa DOT! Very bad experience!
Now they will try and charge me another 110.00!! I will probably get some legal counsel involved.
Faulty device
started car in a.m. with bac .000.
rolling retest in 1 mile with bac .011 and long time to sample. 3 minute retest of bac .000- violation. next a.m. start with bac .000.
5 miles rolling retest with .023. 3 minute retest with .000 and lockout in 6 days. no food, beverages, or smoking in vehicle. finally talked to somebody, after 8 hours of trying, who was having a really bad hair day.
all she said it was my fault, the device is always perfect. so $75.00 latter all is well- sure.
same thing happened first day I used it. are you just trying to get as much money as you can for trashy equipment?

Serious Installation Error by Intoxalock designated Service Company
I'm writing this under a pseudonym so that I can anonymously post this at this time.
How can I report a serious installation error by a designated Service Company? This install error was SO serious, that it caused multiple alarms, lockouts etc in the short time we owned the system.
The installation error was so serious that when we took this to another designated Service Company, they had no idea where the spliced wires came from and contacted Intoxalock. Intoxalock failed to look at our multiple calls and has charged us with tampering, based on the observation of spliced lines.
I am trying to avoid a lawsuit and want to work with Intoxalock to get this designated service company SHUT DOWN. They are clowns and putting your company at risk. They are also costing huge lawyer fees to defend ourselves in Motor Vehicle and Municipal court against allegations of tampering because the lines have splices in them. I agree that the lines have splices. But we didn't do these. We can barely wire a new light fixture to the wall.
We had our previous device for two years with no issues. The state no longer supports the previous device, so the Clown service center removed the previous vendor system ... or put down on paper that they removed it. I investigated THOROUGHLY. I found out that they really didn't remove the old system, but only spliced the intoxalock device on it.
I would assume that this would be a compliance issue with Intoxalock.
First, I don't believe you can leave the old wires in place and then sign a "removal of device" certificate. But I would be interested in hearing your side.
Second, I don't believe that Intoxalock would back their system if your wiring harness was not used, and instead only spliced onto the previous devices wires. But I would be interested in hearing your side.
ould someone with half a brain in your Compliance Office evaluate this? I've tried telling this to customer service. They only think we're angry at having the Intoxalock system removed.
We're angry at being falsely accused of tampering. And we're angry that the Clown shop never really removed the first device, but did a half-assed job of simply splicing your system into the old device's wires. This could have destroyed our car. And for the time being, it's destroying our life and finances.
Yes, I got the clown shop to admit they simply spliced the lines.
Your call now, Intoxalock.

Intoxalock Interlock Device Review from Bemidji, Minnesota
My unit is extremely easy to use. After my first calibration, however, my new unit is too sensitive.
I have limited breath and I have had quite a few missed readings. I hope this does not affect my limited license.
Intoxalock Interlock Device Review from Mountain View, California
Every time I call I sit on hold for 45 minutes. Right now I'm scheduled to change today and the car reads locked out.
I need to get to a meeting and I'm sitting on hold. I wouldn't recommend this customer service to anyone.
Too bad this is mandated. :(

Intoxalock Interlock Device Review from Big Rock, Tennessee
I called customer service about my refunds of towing charges I was told I'd receive in 30 days.
30 days were long passed so I was told to fax them in again in which I did so.
When I called back the customer service guy gave me a nasty attitude saying well it's up to the higher ups if you get that or not.
An argued with me as if I was in the wrong for the equipment not working and going bad. I'm halfway tempted to switch companies.
Bad costumer service over issuse fees

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
I don't even care that Intoxalock is charging more than everyone else. The problem is their customer service and flexibility sucks.
If you call and are new customer you get through right away....if existing ...well plan on being on hold for 30 minutes .....and don't push the option for them to call back either because they don't!. Online chat....yeah right .....good luck..."all representatives are busy" with no additional information how long it will take OR if they even will respond to your question. They ship the units out automatically and they arrive at car toys late the day before your deadline is out so if you are not able to go in and change it the following day YOU WILL GET LOCKED OUT....which means $100 plus tow the car to car toys.
If you want to change the deadline because you are out of town you get to deal with their long hold times and horrible flexibility!!! Don't sign up with these guys...you have been warned.

Resolved: Intoxalock Interlock Device Review from Germantown, Wisconsin
Many issues here, I have missed over 6 days of work due to the device being frozen in the winter. Into slick said they were sending a sleeve but never did.
In the summer, I have been on the clock and the device would lock up due to heat even after I blew through the device like recommended. Also the wait on the phone is ridiculous, I've spend close to 40 hours on hold, waiting to talk to a service Technition and/or supervisor. I've had a few devices that were faulty and ended up putting me into lockout. On top of the regular cost for this device it has cost me over $700, after my calls and complaints, only 2 months fees waived.
After all I've went through there is a cancelation fee that I believe should be waived.
For a company to guarantee their products quality and then there is nothing but issues over the entire year is not right.
Colorado Interlock refused to refund my money.
I had Colorado Interlock install a Intoxalock on my vehicle and the technician stated he would refund my money if I did not want to keep the device. While driving my car, sometimes the device would go off every 5 minutes.
I called the main office and was told that is how the device worked and that I was being tracked with a GPS on the device. The GPS would be used to alert the police if the device registered alcohol.
I then called and scheduled a removal to have the device removed from my car the following week. After the removal, the technician would not refund the two months lease and calibration charges I was told would be refunded.
Theives!!
I had this installed on to my daughter's car voluntarily as a safety measure for her. It was installed one month ago and she has been stuck on the road numerous times due to the unit DRAINING the battery.
The other day, she had to pay $100 to get the car jumped. This is a new car!
When I called, I told them I would like to get it taken off. It cost $120 to install and $120 to remove.
Intoxalock REFUSED to remove future charges for the next two months. I already paid $83 for the first month and now they are charging me $53 for the next two months for a product that I no longer have and KILLS your car voltage!
I am now disputing with my credit card company. Do NOT choose this horrible product or company!

"Call 24/7". Yesterday, I called for a lock out because my battery had died.
Firstly, I wanted to press option 3 for the lockout, that didn't work. Then, I tried another option and that wouldn't work either. Finally, I pressed 1 for "recal", and it finally took me to an operator saying I do not need a recal done until Sept. I waited for about 30mins.
No one picked up. Pressed option 1 to receive a call back. I never got a call back. And then, I received an email apologizing for not being able to call back after two hours later.
Are you serious? You cannot be that busy on a Sunday.
I still haven't been able to reach anyone to send me another device for the lock out.
Mind you, this is my second complaint with the company. Honestly, this company is just full of troubles and I would not recommend it.
